As of this morning, April 17, 2020, there is a ban against ALL category 2 & 3 fires in the Southeast Region. This includes, but not limited to, burning piles of leaves and brush on your own site, or lighting the Burn Pit. This ban is in effect until further notice.
Anyone found in contravention of an open fire prohibition may be fined up to $1,150.
If your fire escapes and results in a wildfire, you may be fined anywhere from $100,000 to $1 million and be sentenced to one year in prison.
As of this date, small campfires are still permitted, but must be attended at all times.
