Kootenay Lake is a long, narrow and deep lake located between the Selkirk and Purcell mountain ranges in the Kootenay region of British Columbia.  It is one of the largest lakes in British Columbia, at 104 km in length and 3–5 km in width.  Moyie Lake is closer, but Kootenay is breath-taking.  It is about a 45 minute drive from the resort, but well worth it.  It is one of the few lakes you can drop your boat into and spend the day on the lake without another boat in sight.  Pack up a picnic basket, and spend the day!
